Celer sufrió una transformación abrupta hace casi dos años, cuando lamentablemente desapareció Danielle Marie Baquet, la otra mitad del proyecto y esposa al mismo tiempo de Will Long. En vida fue multinstrumentalista, profesora de educación especial y algo muy parecido a sanadora sonora. Durante algún tiempo escribió poesía y prosa, hizo algunas cosas en la pintura y trabajos académicos sobre temas variados como equidad de género, educación, historia sobre el país vasco y sobre los tibetanos. Vivió en la India, Nepal, Sri Lanka y finalmente en EEUU. Su trabajo con Celer llamó mi atención porque estuvo involucrada en las Field Recordings y se interesaba por fusionar los elementos análogos y digitales de la electrónica, lo cual era maravilloso. Con el proyecto grabó más de veinte producciones y en este blog hemos comentado Dying Star y Hell Detoured y esta vez hemos decidido volver a hablar sobre Celer a propósito de un tributo (el único que conocemos hasta la fecha) a la memoria de Danielle Baquet, que corre a cuenta del proyecto chileno Atrio Serenade. Creo que el trabajo que ha hecho Gerardo Astete es interesante: una hora de un Ambient bastante heterodoxo (que no he podido digerir con facilidad debido a una terrible cefalea) con diversas fuentes sonoras que enriquecen la única pieza. Creo precisamente la variedad de elementos incluidos hace justicia a lo que Danielle Baquet hacía en vida: la versatilidad se convierte en un mosaico multicolor donde la experimentación hace gala de una presencia sublime.
Este tema está disponible en la red de forma gratuita. Quisiera que los escasos visitantes de este espacio le dieran una oportunidad a Atrio Serenade, de quien esperamos pronto publicar algo en el corto plazo nuevamente, pero esta vez sin la pesadumbre en el espíritu que implica un tributo.
Dear friends,
With great sadness I have to announce to you, our friends, that Dani passed away yesterday, July 8. On Tuesday morning I woke to find her unconscious, and not breathing. The medics were called, and she was revived, but fell directly into a coma and didn’t wake up. She passed away yesterday at 3pm, with her family by her. All that is known to say why is that her heart stopped, for no foreseeable reason. The only relation is that her father died in the same way, of a cardiac arrest at the age of 29. She was 26.
Right now I don’t know how to express the loss and sadness I feel, knowing that someone so ultimately close to me, and such an inspiration and friend to so many other people in the world is gone. All I can say is that she won’t be forgotten, or pushed aside only because she’s gone. She’ll always be with me, as my inspiration, my love, my everything. All I can say is I miss her, every second.
Right now I won’t be able to answer many emails, as there’s only so much I can talk about this. Time will heal this, but I know the sadness will never go away. This, I’m ok with, as I never want to forget every way she changed my life, and touched my heart.
I appreciate all your support and love, and even though many of you only knew her through her poetry, or her music, I hope they are good memories. Enclosed is a favorite photo of her, taken at her beach, at home.
